Hey everyone! So, the play, A Doll's House is quite amazing! The characters and the issues really seemed to catch my eye. Let's start with the ravishing queen Nora. She's definitely a handful to deal with and is all over the place. As a matter of fact, she’s my favorite character because you never know what she’s going to say or do next. Now about her character, she can be very selfish and inconsiderate. For example, when Mrs. Linde was telling her about how hard her life is at this moment and how much she goes through, Nora pities her and not only does she do that but she also talks about herself a lot. Mrs. Linde tries vehemently to get Nora to hear her problems and all she cares about is how great her life is compared to hers. When Mrs. Linde tells her, “…especially when you know so little about the troubles and hardships of life,” Nora completely resents the statement. She claims that she’s been through so many hardships and had to deal with issues all by herself. Have you ever met or tried to talk to someone who was so inconsiderate and as selfish such as Nora? How would that make you feel and how do you think Mrs. Linde felt every time Nora kept bragging about her “oh so great” life? Moving on to Nora’s husband, Torvald Helmer, he isn’t really the nicest guy on the planet. I dislike the way he treats her and the insulting names he calls her because I wouldn’t want my husband to treat me in such a way. He thinks the names are frivolous and won’t have an effect but it does. Maybe it doesn’t directly affect Nora but imagining someone calling me names like that would make me feel low. Anyway, I’m pretty sure the majority of people currently or used to know someone who was bedridden and would do anything to let them be in peace. Although Nora lied and hid things from so many people, I believe deep inside there’s a reason for all of this. Think about your life and the types of sacrifices you’ve made. If you never made a life changing sacrifice or you never experienced the death of a close family member, imagine how painful it would be and think about all the stress you would be going through. So is Nora a compulsive liar who loves to hide things from people and is a “squandering squirrel,” or is she a mystery that is currently misunderstood?
